The heart of yoga

An intimate 5 day retreat in South-West France

12 – 17 June

Join me, for this special five day yoga immersion, in the snug seclusion of The Little French Retreat, South West France.

In this intimate setting, with a maximum of just six guests, we will explore the pillars of a home-grown yoga practice with purpose.

The heart of yoga is an experiential and educational week intended to inspire you on your own path, as you become better acquainted with the foundations and philosophy of this ancient methodology. It is ideal for anyone wanting a thorough induction into yoga or those wishing to refine their practice through understanding, technique and plenty of personal attention.

During this retreat you will develop the tools and techniques, the methods and the master keys, needed to mature your practice in a way that is playful, personalised, easy to understand and simple to apply. It will strip yoga back to its roots and help you to understand how to practice for yourself in a way that is heartfelt and helpful.

Morning classes will introduce you to a balanced sequence, that you can learn and practice at home, with plenty of room for individual variation.

In the afternoons will we learn the importance of correct breathing and how to do it, how to move safely by tuning in and trusting, the value of good alignment, bandha activation and awareness, and how attitude and focus influence outcome on your mat.

At the end of the week you will be able to practice with more comfort, connection and confidence. Regardless of your existing level of practice, this retreat is intended to bring insight into how to practice yoga, for you.

The venue

The Little French Retreat is a cosy country house that offers you an elegant and intimate stay in South West France.

Overlooking the graceful rolling hills and woodlands of the Garonne Valley, The Little French Retreat is the perfect soulful escape.

Surrounded by an idyllic garden, in the historic village of Montesquieu, the property has just three beautiful bedrooms, meaning there are never more than six guests at one time, ensuring plenty of time and space for yourself.

You can choose to spend your free time exploring the nearby forest, rivers and canal paths on bicycle or foot, or relaxing into stillness and enjoying the views from a private garden spot.

The accommodation

Three inviting double bedrooms, full of French charm, await you. Each room is tastefully decorated in a neutral yet classic style, and well appointed with high quality mattresses, Egyptian cotton bed linen, towels, shower soap and shampoo.

On the ground floor of the house there is a comfortable living room with wood burning stove, library, spacious kitchen and dinning area that leads out onto the veranda, shaded under vines. The terraced garden offers scenic views and the perfect spot to sunset gaze every evening.

The yoga room is centrally located within the house, with high vaulted ceiling and stone walls which helps keep everyone cool during the summer months. On warmer days classes can take place outside.

The food

Our host and chef, Tamsin, will titillate our tastebuds and ensure we are well fed with an abundance of delicious, vegetarian dishes that combine Ayurvedic principles with both Eastern and European flavour.

Everything is cooked from scratch, using only natural, unprocessed foods that are locally sourced, organic and seasonal.
