The yoga

On our yoga mat we will awaken our senses and discover the connection between body, mind and soul. Every morning we will take to our mat for a dynamic practice that will invigorate and revitalize the whole system, strengthen the body and make you feel deliciously alive.

I will guide you through a series of classes intended to help you deepen your practice by exploring the fundamentals of yoga: breath, bandha, mindfulness and movement.

Afternoon Yin Yoga classes will be nourishing and restorative, so you can truly unravel and let go.

The wine

Despite its proximity to Tuscany, Umbria’s commercial wine industry is a relatively short one. In the 12th century, the popes summered by Lake Corbara and drank a sweet, thick white wine and in the 16th century the Franciscan monks used a sweet wine from Montefalco for their sagras. Otherwise the region has been unknown up until the last 30 years. Umbria is the 4th smallest region in Italy but has 11 DOC white wines and 2 DOCG Red wines. The red wine most famous is called the Montefalco Sagrantino which is found in the region of Montefalco. It is made of 100% Sagrantino grape and aged in small oak barrels for up to 30 months. It often reaches over 15% alcohol by volume and has the flexibility to be produced as a dry or a sweet wine. It is delicious with local meat, rich pastas and strong-flavored cheese recipes..

The food

Umbria is a small, land-locked region affectionately known as ‘the green heart of Italy’ that is famed for the richness and diversity of its produce, resulting in some of the countries most celebrated cuisine.

Each day you will sit down to delicious meals using seasonal, local and farm fresh ingredients, some of which will have come directly from the Caimeli estate.

Together we will learn the timeless tradition of proper pasta making from recipes handed down through generations – sample olive oil – experience the local village on market day where we will witness the incredible abundance of fresh produce available  – sip espresso – try our hand at making chocolate truffles and explore the regions wineries.

Evening meals will be appropriately paired with wine from the region and tasting notes will be provided.

The venue

A charming Umbrian olive plantation nestled in the hills of Umbertide with panoramic views across the wide-open landscape, Azienda  Agraria Cai Meli is an authentically restored 18th century manor house with plenty of modern comforts. It sits on a gentle hill cusp with 16 hectares of rolling landscape filled with olive, cherry, and nut trees surrounding the houses and a drop-dead infinity swimming pool. The old stable has been converted into a peaceful yoga space that overlooks the pool and surrounding wilderness.
